SI - IN PARTE

Ca’ Rezzonico is a wonderful palace by Baldassarre Longhena, since 1936 it is the seat of the Museum of Venetian eighteenth century. The sumptuous residence, in addition to the original frescoes by Giambattista Tiepolo and Giambattista Crosato, houses a precious collection of furnishings, paintings and sculptures from the Venetian eighteenth century. Among these there are the paintings by Antonio Canaletto, Francesco Guardi, Giambattista Piazzetta, Rosalba Carriera, Pietro Longhi, the sculptures of Antonio Corradini, Andrea Brustolon, Filippo Parodi, Giusto Le Court, as well as the exuberant furnishings of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, flanked by a precious collection of porcelain, with handworks of the most important Venetian and European manufactures of the eighteenth century.

On the second floor there are the alcove comes from Palazzo Carminati at San Stae, and dates from the second half of the 18th century, and the boudoir which was transferred here from palazzo Calbo Crotta. The walls still have the original 18th-century stucco work, while the paintings are by Costantini Cedini. On the second floor you can admire the fresoces painted by Giandomenico Tiepolo in the family villa in Zianigo. The paintings were completed over a fairly long period, between 1759 and 1797, and undoubtedly constitute one of the most fascinating, singular bodies of work in the whole of Venetian painting. They are works painted not for a client but for the artist and his family’s own pleasure, in the private context of their home. The Punchinello (or Punch) Room was the last one to be painted by Giandomenico Tiepolo, and it is perhaps the most famous of the whole cycle.

On the third floor it is displayed the «Ai Do San Marchi» pharmacy, that was located in Campo San Stin in Venice on the corner of Calle Donà. The pharmacy consists of three intercommunicating rooms. The first, the shop itself, is fitted with elegant furnishings in dark burl walnut; the decorated majolica vases on the shelves designed to contain the spices and the materials needed for the preparation of medications, are the work of the Cozzi manufacture in Venice. The second room is occupied by the workshop, with a fireplace and a stove, as well as alembics in the most diverse forms, in the thinnest glass from the Murano furnaces. The third room is the back room of the pharmacy. Here the walls are completely covered with panelling in painted pine wood, enriched with carved capitals and rococo decorative elements.

The third floor houses also the Egidio Martini pictures gallery with paintings, almost all of the Venetian school, ranging from the 15th century to the beginning of the 20th. It includes works by important masters as well as paintings by artists who owe their place in the history of Venetian art: Cima da Conegliano, Alvise Vivarini, Bonifacio de' Pitati, Tintoretto, Palma il Giovane, Bernardo Strozzi, Giulio Carpioni, Sebastiano Ricci, Rosalba Carriera, Giambattista Tiepolo, Ippolito Caffi, Emma Ciardi.

The Browning Mezzanine, accessed from the ground floor, also houses the Ferruccio Mestrovich collection with paintings by Jacopo Tintoretto, Bonifacio de 'Pitati, Francesco Guardi, Sebastiano Ricci and Alessandro Longhi.

On the ground floor, around the entrance hall, visitor services are housed: information, ticket office, cloakroom, toilets, bookshop, cafeteria, lift. The large garden features a parterre with boxwood flower beds with a pergola covered with wisteria and is also designed to accommodate small theatrical performances.
