TEATRO OLIMPICO

The last work and well-known masterpiece by Andrea Palladio was inspired by ancient Greek and Roman theatres. Commissioned by the Accademia Olimpica in 1579, it remained unfinished at the death of the Architect in 1580, was completed by Vincenzo Scamozzi with the famous perspective scenes representing the streets of Thebes and inaugurated in 1585 with "Aedipus" by Sophocles.

Ultima opera di Andrea Palladio, è ispirato ai teatri greci e romani dell'antichità. Commissionato nel 1579 a Palladio dall'Accademia Olimpica, lasciato incompiuto nel 1580 per la morte dell'Architetto, è stato ultimato da Vincenzo Scamozzi con le celebri scenografie prospettiche rappresentanti le vie di Tebe e inaugurato nel 1585 con la rappresentazione dell'Edipo Tiranno di Sofocle.
