MUSEO DELLE MACCHINE TESSILI

The Museum of Textile Machinery is located in a  part of the textile workshops in Valdagno Technical High School “V. E. Marzotto”  .

During the XIXth century Marzotto Textiles company in Valdagno remarkably expanded and introduced new manufactuting technologies, at first employing foreign engineers and  technicians and  later deciding to form  skilled workers and technicians on the spot.

Therefore technical schools of different levels were established and they found their definite location in the outstanding building built within the “social town” by Count Gaetano Marzotto.

In 1942 the Textile High School was funded and several exhibits of machinery were housed  in the part reserved to the workshops. In the following decades more machinery was added and so the School became an important reference centre for the local textile companies.

The Museum of Textile Machinery is located in a dedicated space of these workshops. It began its activity in 1999 and it has been developing more and more in the following years  in order to witness the technological progress of a manufacturing sector which has deeply marked  the town and its surroundings.

The tour of the Museum covers the Historical hall, the Fibers hall, the Hall of woollen spinning, the Hall of worsted spinning, the Hall of weaving and the Educational workshop.

The museum is only open by appointment.

Il Museo delle macchine tessili è allestito in una parte dei laboratori tessili dell'Istituto Tecnico Industriale "V.E.Marzotto”di Valdagno.

Nel corso dell’ Ottocento l’industria tessile Marzotto di Valdagno si espande notevolmente e introduce nuove tecnologie nelle lavorazioni, ricorrendo inizialmente alla consulenza di tecnici stranieri e decidendo poi di formare in loco operai e tecnici specializzati.

Nascono così scuole tecniche di vario livello, che dal 1936 troveranno sede nel maestoso edificio fatto costruire all’interno della "Città sociale" dal conte Gaetano Marzotto.

Nel 1942 viene istituito l’Istituto Tecnico Industriale tessile e nella parte riservata ai laboratori largo spazio viene lasciato a numerosissimi macchinari. Nei decenni successivi altre macchine si aggiunsero, facendo dell’Istituto un importante punto di riferimento per le aziende tessili del territorio.

Il Museo delle macchine tessili si sviluppa proprio in una porzione di questi laboratori. Esso ha iniziato la sua attività nel 1999 ed è andato completandosi negli anni successivi con l’intento di testimoniare il progresso tecnologico di un settore produttivo che ha segnato profondamente la città e il territorio.

Il percorso del Museo comprende: la sala storica, la sala fibre, la sala filatura cardata, la sala filatura pettinata, la sala tessitura e il laboratorio didattico.

Le visite al museo si effettuano esclusivamente su prenotazione.
